Municipalities across Canada are introducing requirements for existing buildings to move toward Net Zero emissions before 2050: What does this mean for your condominium?
Whether you’re a new condo owner living in or renting out your unit, or an involved condo board member or manager planning the future of your building, you play an important role in the health and longevity of your home. Your city’s future goal for reaching net zero will impact you directly, and your voice matters in shaping how your condominium responds to this mandate.
The Better Condos Workshop (BC Workshop) is a unique opportunity for you to learn alongside condo managers, board members, and unit owners in preparing your building for a more sustainable future. The workshop is running from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m on Monday, November 30, 2026, at Vaughan City Hall.
Workshop participation requires teams with at least of two representatives from the following three categories, per building:
a) Condominium Managers
b) Condominium Board Members
c) Condominium Unit Owners (non-board members)
Condominium Managers attending the free boot camp with a condo team will be eligible for 5 CPE’s from CMRAO.
• Core Focus: Navigating municipal building regulations, assessing the financial risks of delayed maintenance, moving past "replace-in-kind" habits, and mapping out practical, future-proof energy efficiency and net-zero strategies.
• Amenities: Admission includes a free lunch, coffee, and all workshop materials.
Space is limited since the event targets collaborative condo stakeholder teams. You can register or view the full curriculum through the official SBC Better Condos Event Page.
If you have specific inquiries regarding attendance or team registration, you can contact the organizers directly at bcbc@sbcanada.org
