Our 1st Eco-Family Festival in Richmond Hill

We co-hosted the first Eco-family Festival with Councillor Scott Thompson, aiming to empower everyday action for positive impacts on the environment, the climate, and our health. This event is first of its kind that brings together leading institutions, citizen groups and experts to showcase how their work have a positive impact on the environment, and how community members can be part of the change.

Civic Engagement on Climate Crisis in Richmond Hill

Esther Collier, our Communications Coordinator, presented to the Civic Engagement Committee hosted by Councillor Karen Cilevitz on the climate crisis. Esther discussed with the group the crisis on the global and local scales, and how Richmond Hill as a community can respond. She laid out how everyone in civil society has a role to play in achieving the City’s Climate Plan net-zero target by 2050, and its massive potential health, social, environmental, and economic benefits. Activating civil society to respond also assuages youth anxiety over the climate crisis and nurture a sense of hope in our next generation. Please share this impactful and well-researched presentation through your personal network to magnify the work for a resilient and healthy Richmond Hill.

Climate immersive learning at city-wide events

We engaged with dozens of residents in extensive and meaningful dialogues on climate actions through games, visual displays, and sensory activities. We inspired children, youth and adults to think about how their daily habits and choices can make a huge difference on our health, finances, and the environment.

Climate Owls in Richmond Hill

The Climate Owls is a group of Rose Town residents working to inform their community about the climate situation and to do their part in advocating for change and adjusting their lifestyles to reduce emissions. Rose Town Apartments is a multi-residential building owned by Housing York. Climate Action Richmond Hill organizes meetings and initiatives with the Climate Owls. The Ice Dragos, a local youth environmental group, is a close partner with us in supporting the Climate Owls.
